Ink Yourself - Tattoos

Hey you! Today I decided to talk about something I am fascinated: Tattoos!! They're a kind of art, that is going to pass a whole life with you; it's eternal on your skin. There are a lot of styles, techniques and artist, so I'm gonna show you my favorite ones. Let's beging!!

Old School

This guy on left is one of my favorite tattoo artists ever! His name was Sailor Jerry. In late 20s, when tattoo was a taboo, something totally underground, he became working, and his first clientes were drunk man.
He sailed with Navy in late 30s, after settling himself in Hawaii.
On his studio, he tattooed a lot of american soldiers who were in World War II, so they could always have a little piece of America on their skin.
His style, the "Old School", or simply, "Tradiotinal", counts with heavy lines, dark shadings and a short color palete. Some people say he was the first professional tattoo artist ever.
However, it's undeniable: Sailor Jerry was definitely on of the most important tattoo artist ever.

Despite Sailor Jerry have died on 70s, he still influence lot of people. Example is the artist Quyen Dinh who draws beautiful tattoo desings in Sailor Jerrys' same style.

CHALLENGE: Can you name all of this characters?

 Realism

It's not all about a 3D illusion - it's bring images to life. A lot of technique is required, so as well, a lot of pratice, expierence and study.
Nikko Hurtado is an american artist who works with insanely hyper-realistic tattoos. Check out his job!! Can you name some of theese figures?

 New School
Tons of bright, vibrant, and varieted colors, overdone, psychedelic and distorted drawings, high contrasts with super exaggerated and thick lines designs are some elements we can find on New School tattoos. Inspired on cartoons, you can do anything when we talk about it There aren't rules like in the Old School.
New School, to some artist, means freedom.
One of my favorite artists, is Jime Litwalk. He was on a TV reality show about tattoos called Ink Master.
Check out some quick-sketches done by him.
